Have you ever looked at the photographs of models and celebrities in magazines and wondered why you don't look like that too? Well there is probably one good reason.....You have never been professionally photographed!

Let's face it, about the best photograph the average person gets is when they are dressed up going out to dinner or a special function. Your usually running late and whoever is near by grabs the 'ol instamatic, tell you to stand by a wall and then fumbles with the camera trying to make the thing work. When they finally take the picture you weren't ready and were probably in mid sentence anyway............ And you wonder why you don't look like the models what have had professional styling and been photographed with proper equipment in idyllic surroundings!

Until now, the only alternative you had was to take yourself off to one of the Glamour Makeover studios in your local shopping centre. After they use all their photographic skill to make you look as bad as possible for their "before" shot, your then transformed into someone even you wouldn't recognize! With big hair and packed on makeup, they photograph you with a variety of dizzily bright backgrounds with outfits designed to hide as much of your natural features as possible. All this happens in about 2 hours where you are then whisked away to view your 15 pictures and select which photos you would like to purchase at prices that make Caviar look cheap!!

While many people find this type of portrait satisfactory, Dare to be Different offer a far more creative and realistic alternative... 

Traditionally, Glamour Photography refers to Photographs which are basically head and shoulders portraits photographed in the studio. At Dare to be Different, we have taken this concept a lot further preferring a style which more resembles a model  portfolio or fashion magazine layout. By incorporating a Fashion portfolio mixture of full length, half length and close-up photographs, Dare offer a much greater variety of scope than traditional Glamour studios offer.

Added to the fact your photographs can be done in the studio, or on location indoors or out, you can see what Dare offers is truly unique and original in the field of fashion Photography. Because of this unique commitment to giving you the best photography possible, we have photographed many interstate, overseas and local clients, many several times over!

At Dare to be Different, there are no set poses or styles of photos we do over and over. Every client is encouraged to put forward their own ideas and if you don't have any, our 10 plus years of experience can be relied on to guide you through photographs that will bring out the best in you.

We have had some great successes in this area and really have been able to help people change their lives...  We often her people exclaim while looking at there photographs " My god!, is that really me??"

So you'd love to do it, but are too nervous right???

Everyone of our clients is nervous at first... although we've yet to find out why.... Often it just fear of the unknown or that they will not look good.
These same clients after 15 minutes are often having so much fun and feeling so relaxed, they can't remember what they were worried about in the first place!

When you come in, we sit down over a cup of coffee and go over your ideas, what you want the shots for and what you would like from your shoot ultimately. We can go through some samples and the outfits you have brought so we can make a basic plan of the shots you would like. From there your hair and makeup is done according to the overall style of shots you would like. Unless otherwise specified, your makeup will look fresh and natural and never "caked on " or heavy.

From there, we start with some shots to get you comfortable with the camera and posing. You don't have to know how to pose or have any ideas at all, we will guide you through the session so all you have to do is look happy and enjoy yourself!

After your shoot, you can sit down and look at all the shots taken or if you prefer, you can make a time to come back and see them with your partner or alone. We will go through all the photographs with you and you can select which images you like and what sizes you want them. Having said that, most clients these days elect to have all their shots put onto a CD rom so they can have a copy of all the shots taken on the day and have prints made at digital labs or get back to us with which shots they prefer to have prints made.

 

One things for certain.... no matter what type of shots you have taken, you'll have a great day and have something to look back on for years to come!
